On this tour, we explore the unique river valley nestled between the cities of Corning and Elmira, NY. Over 6 miles we'll view wildlife, discover local history, learn to kayak, and have a whole lot of fun!
We start at Bottchers Landing. The tour begins with a safety orientation and a paddling lesson from our experienced guides. Once we're on the water, we'll pass a small island with a few riffles as we reach the palisades. These high cliffs, carved by glaciers, dominate the right side of the river. Keep your eyes peeled for the resident bald eagles! Past the palisades, the river meanders around several small islands before reaching our destination at Fitches Bridge.
"Quiet," "peaceful," "charming," and "historic" are a few of the words best used to describe the Chenango River. This tour covers 7.5 miles from Brisben to Greene, NY.
We begin in Greene, where you'll park your vehicle at the ball fields and ride in our shuttle bus to Brisben. Our guides will lead a safety orientation and teach kayaking fundamentals. As we start downstream, watch for Great Blue Herons, Mergansers, King Fishers and many other species of birds. Your tour will pass a series of small islands and a large, deep pool, that's perfect for cooling off in summer's heat. Be sure to leave time to explore the friendly antique and arts community of Greene at the end of the tour.
Experience the calm and scenic waters of the Southern Tier's premier river, the Susquehanna. With a gentle flow and relaxed pace, this 6-mile tour is well suited for larger groups.
We meet at the DEC boat launch in Apalachin. Your tour starts with a safety orientation and a kayaking lesson from our experienced guides. As we travel downstream, a sweeping turn in the river leads us into a wide valley, where many species of birds frequent the shallow waters. We'll pass historic Hiawatha Island, the largest island in the Susquehanna within New York State. You'll have a chance to cool off in the water before we reach our destination at Hickories Park.
Each of our three standard tour offerings can be booked as a private tour for you and your group.
You pick the date. You pick the start time. We'll work with you to build a tour that will fulfill your group's goals for doing something unique together, developing kayak skills, or just having fun. If our three standard tour offerings don't work for you, we'll design a tour itinerary just for your group.
Getting everyone on the water together is a great team experience. We work with corporate teams, college and high school groups, families, and groups of all types in-between. Do something truly different. Book a kayak tour for your group.
